VNA HealthCare To Host the Ninth Annual Wine Benefit “A Taste for Hope”

Tasty food and fine wine will be the highlight of “A Taste for Hope” on Thursday, March 13 at The Hartford Club, 46 Prospect St., Hartford. VNA HealthCare, a local home care and hospice agency, is the host. International wines, paired with food and dessert and an online silent auction will be featured. Spirits and microbrewery tastings will also be available. The presenting sponsors are Byram Healthcare and C.M. Smith Agency, Inc.

Attendees will sample wines, spirits and microbrew beers organized by Wine Cellars 4 in Farmington. All tastings will be available for sale with a percentage of sales supporting VNA HealthCare’s hospice program. Silent auction packages will center on wine for the collector, travel and entertainment. Raffle tickets will be available for sale with one top prize of a trip to San Francisco and Sonoma’s wine country, including six nights’ lodging and airfare for two.

Now in its ninth year, the event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and reservations are available for $75 per individual and $125 per patron. Last year, more than 250 people enjoyed the evening and raised nearly $42,000 to support hospice care. Hospice is a holistic philosophy of care that provides medical, spiritual and emotional care to both the patient and their loved ones at a vulnerable time. Services include nursing, pain management, medical social workers, caregiver respite and bereavement and pastoral counselors.

Last year, VNA HealthCare’s hospice program provided 47,441 days of hospice care to 1,668 terminally ill patients to spend their final days with comfort and dignity, surrounded by family and friends.
